Rifles are still totally manageable and I still personally prefer using them for fun and damage ratios, but I can see why a lot of people opted towards SMGs and machineguns to compensate for the spread, and how the bullet deviation encourages closer range encounters. Battlefield 1 also makes hip fire totally reasonable on so many guns, especially the Assault SMGs. When I'm playing run-and-gun up and close I'll almost never use the iron sights at all. Battlefield V feels worlds different thanks to the changes in random bullet deviation. When you miss a shot from a rifle in Battlefield 1 it sometimes feels like rolling a dice, because it literally is it's not game breakingly bad, but you know what I mean. Because the recoil is now realistic, and bullet trajectory is aligned with the barrel, your weapon kick feels like something actually manageable, and thus missed shots are conveyed as legitimate and something that can addressed by the player themselves and not just randomization. You can't just turn your rifle into a laser sight because there's still kick, but it does make the player put conscious effort into managing the weapon's kickback via burst fire, more patient lining up of shots, knowing your bullet drop, and just pacing yourself. When you hit a target it feels like you earned the shot. When you miss you accept it was your own fault, or you were just outplayed. The gunplay feels much more rewarding than Battlefield 1. If you want players to actually set up areas to use them and place themselves in a position where they are stationary there needs to be an advantage for doing so, and so far the disadvantages faaaaaar outweigh that, because as soon as you fire and everyone sees your position on the mini map it's a giant crosshair on you and snipers, etc are just going to ping you with a hit. Especially since spotting is out it just draws that much more attention to mg's. The squad spawn screen is stupid. They should just have the picture in picture like BF4. Battlefield always has weird UI and spawn features that seem fine in theory but in practice deter efficiency. I actually really like the idea of having a full feed of what my squad is doing to select my spawn. I like the idea of either bleeding out or slowing it down to call out for a revive. The bleed out is necessary, it's fast enough, and Battlefield should never allow instant respawn. I wish it was picture-in-picture. Like if you're bleeding out and reaching for help or waiting to respawn, have that as a PIP while you can still tinker with your loadout. I feel that's what eats up the most time, because I like swapping gear or class or weapons if I feel a different approach to help the team is necessary. I've been thinking about this the past couple days and I came to the conclusion that DICE doesn't want transportation vehicles on this map. When you look at it from a birds eye view, most of the pathways are meant for infantry with not much space for transportation vehicles to get through, which in turn slows things down quite a bit. All that being said, I would honestly still like a jeep or two for each side. It's very rare to see a tank in the midst of things as they usually stay at the edges from far away and try to snipe.
