The IDP is valid for one year, and lists the vehicle categories to which your permit applies. NOTE: The IDP is only valid when used in conjunction with a valid Canadian provincial driver's license. Our CAA Stores are closed on the following statutory holidays in 2018. Please be advised that some countries and car rental companies may require you to purchase a local drivers license.


We've heard from friends that we should have no problem using our Canadian licences but others have said we should get some kind of international driver's licence. Why do you need International Driver License from us? Once issued, the IDP is valid for one year from the date of issue, providing your Canadian licence is valid for the duration of your trip.


Travel - Photos must also be on photo paper — Computer generated scanned photos are not acceptable.
